Since 2019, Don’t mess with Texas® has partnered with muralists throughout the Lone Star State. These talented painters and creators artistically remind locals and visitors alike that we all need to do our part to keep Texas clean.
Mural locations include the Houston Hobby Airport, Reagan Park in Palestine, Bryant Street in San Angelo and McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley. Don’t mess with Texas will always support our Texas muralists.

MURALS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS
2023
In September of 2023, Don’t mess with Texas unveiled the first mural in the Texas Rio Grande Valley area. The mural titled “Don’t mess with Texas Because We’re Watching” was created by Oneieda Treviño features a cowgirl on one end and a ballet folklórico dancer on the other. In between, we see a variety of plants and animals local to the Texas Rio Grande Valley. It’s a beautiful depiction of the Valley’s rich culture and diverse ecology, reminding residents and visitors to keep their beautiful environment clean. The mural also includes a quote “We only have one” below the “Don’t mess with Texas” campaign logo, emphasizing the importance of preserving the beauty of Texas.
2022
Our first park mural is unveiled in Palestine. This mural, created by Deanna Fryes at Reagan Park reminds visitors to keep Texas clean.
2021
A second mural is unveiled at Houston’s Hobby Airport. This one, by Tyler Kay, features native Texas wild flowers.
2020
Crystal Goodman created our first outdoor mural in San Angelo featuring animals helping pick up Trash and detailed with Texas yellow roses.
2019
Our first permanent mural, created by Nicky Davis, is unveiled at the baggage claim section of the Houston Hobby Airport.
