The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has created www.dontmesswithtexas.org to enhance public access to our litter prevention programs. This policy describes TxDOT’s privacy and security practices regarding information collected from visitors to the site, including what information is collected and how that information is used. This service is continually under development. TxDOT strives to keep the information on this site timely and accurate.
Regardless of the information being transmitted to TxDOT, we will protect all such information consistent with applicable law. All information collected or maintained by this site is subject to the provisions of the Texas Public Information Act (Chapter 552, Texas Government Code).
This Website Privacy Policy (Policy) applies to all pages operated by TxDOT. This website provides access to non-TxDOT entities. TxDOT does not control the authenticity, accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of these outside sites and is not responsible for their privacy practices or content.
Personal Information we collect
If you send an electronic mail message with a question or comment that contains identifying information or fill out a form that emails that information to us, we will use your personal identification information to respond to your request. We reserve the right to redirect your message to an agency or person better suited to answer your question.
As part of our data collection to service information requests, you may provide us with any of the following examples of Personal Information:

- Additional information as described to you at the point of collection or pursuant to your consent
Privacy of Children – because of the educational materials and the litter-catch game
Children (persons under the age of 18) are not eligible to use our Site without the supervision of their parents. If you are under the age of 18 please do not submit any personal information to us or use any function of our Site without parental consent. This Site is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. If we discover that we have collected any personal information regarding a child 13 or under we will delete the information as soon as possible.
Do we use cookies?
We use cookies to enhance the performance of our website, provide more relevant information to you and help us better understand the behaviors of users who use our Site. TxDOT does not use cookies for other purposes. We do not use tailored advertisements or targeted advertisements.
Additionally, third-party widgets such as Google Analytics or YouTube (because of our video archives) may install cookies depending on their configuration.
Release of information:
All information collected or maintained by TxDOT is subject to the provisions of the Texas Public Information Act (Chapter 552, Texas Government Code). The identity of most members of the public who communicate with state agencies through the Internet is confidential under Texas law. The information would not be released to any parties outside of TxDOT unless legally required in connection with law enforcement, investigations or other legal proceedings. Exceptions to confidentiality may be reviewed at Texas Government code, Section 552.137.
